NATURAL POZZOLANS
Natural pozzolans include rocks of volcanic origin (e.g. vitreous rhyolites, tufts, and pumices from the Rocky Mountains in the USA and Canada), as well as some sedimentary clays and shales. Some may be used as they are, while others undergo a process of thermal activation (e.g. calcined clays).
The performance of these natural pozzolans is simlar to Type F fly ashes.
Benefits
- Improved ASR mitigation
- Improved sulphate resistance
